Teaching with Pride, Learning with Confidence

PE and Sports Funding

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for Physical Education (PE) and sport.  This funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision.

Funding was allocated to all maintained and state-funded schools from 1 September 2013.  A typical primary school will receive £9250 annually in the academic years 2013/2014, 2014/2015 and 2015/2016.  More recently the funding has doubled and allows Schools to significantly improve their P.E. and sports provision.

Great consideration has been given at Kempshott Juniors, about the spending of our sports premium and how it can have the greatest impact on: teaching and learning in PE lessons; to increase the participation in sport, out of school hours; to improve the health and fitness of the children; to improve the equipment and resources and to increase the range of sports on offer.  Our Year 5 pupils enjoy their visits to the local Swimming Pool for lessons, this year 84% of our children can now swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.  76% use a range of strokes effectively and 49% perform safe self-rescue in different water based situations.
